“One Hundred Hollow Men” (Student’s 3rd Year Elective): Julian Gasson and Raees Saaiet

Masculine identities have also long been relevant to understanding and addressing the HIV/ AIDS epidemic in South Africa. The aim of this conference is to create a platform for an inclusive but critical engagement among a broad set of university stakeholders that asks, “how masculinities—along with intersectional inequalities around race, class and culture—can be understood and transformed through the HIV curriculum, education and programming at Higher Education Institutions?” It is hoped that recommendations from this conference will help map the way forward for practitioners engaging with masculinities and HIV/AIDS in higher education.
